RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH – PIZZANA

Jane Kaplan, SOHA Restaurant Chair

June 2025 Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association Newsletter

World-Class Pizza in Sherman Oaks – In 2022, Pizzana opened its doors in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd, offering handcrafted Neapolitan-style pizza made with only the finest ingredients – such as San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella shipped directly from Italy. Their menu also has a variety of antipasti, salads, and desserts. Pizzana showcases Chef Daniele Uditi’s modern take on traditional Neapolitan pizza. His creations blend classic techniques with consciously sourced, unexpected toppings. Signature flavors include the Cacio e Pepe and the Neo Margherita. A key part of Pizzana’s success is Chef Daniele’s signature “slow dough” – carefully prepared and fermented for two days for optimal flavor and texture. Recognized globally, Pizzana has earned a place on the prestigious list of the Top 50 Pizzerias in the World and has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for outstanding quality and value. The dessert menu, curated by Candace Nelson, founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes, adds a sweet finish to the dining experience. Impressed by Chef Daniele’s pizza, Nelson co-founded Pizzana with him. Today, it has seven locations. Guests rave not only about the pizza but also Pizzana’s acclaimed Caesar salad. At our next SOHA Meeting, we’ll have the pleasure of enjoying both. As a special treat, Pizzana is offering one free pizza to each SOHA member who dines in and spends $25 or more – coupon to right.

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH – SWEET BUTTER

Jane Kaplan, SOHA Restaurant Chair

October 2024 Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association Newsletter

From the moment that they opened close to 15 years ago Sweet Butter Kitchen’s word of mouth success has always remained a constant in our community. We are thrilled to confirm that Sweet Butter will be our October Restaurant of the Month. Opening Sweet Butter Kitchen occurred simply because founder Leslie Danelian was tired of seeing an empty graffitied space at 13824 Ventura Blvd with a sign that read “Restaurant Opening Soon”. So, in 2010 after both of her kids left home for college she opened Sweet Butter. She had worked as a personal chef and caterer, as well as a recipe writer. She decided to take a chance and open her first restaurant. It was an immediate success. People were raving from the start about the food at Sweet Butter, and they’re still raving. Sadly, five years after opening Sweet Butter, Leslie succumbed to cancer. Leslie’s daughter Emily and son Andrew are now running the business and have for close to 10 years with great success. The quality of their food has always been top of the line. They use only the best ingredients. People crave their brussel sprouts salad, croque monsieur, soups, amazing salads, fantastic omelets, sandwiches, and amazing desserts. The food is great, the baked goods are great, and it’s all homemade. We are very lucky to have this restaurant gem in Sherman Oaks. I love this place and am very much looking forward to having them as a Restaurant of the Month!
